While we call on regional elected officials to add more immediately available shelter beds, the need to provide protection and warmth from the elements is critical. As such, the Lucky Duck Foundation has distributed more than 17,000 sleeping bag coats since 2020, including 4,000 last winter and 4,500 this winter.
These weather-resistant coats are manufactured by formerly homeless parents and transform into sleeping bags to provide reprieve and protection from the cold pavement. It is the least we can do while we encourage our elected officials to add inclement weather shelter beds.
