“Cash for Trash” enables homeless individuals to earn $2 for every bag of trash they clean up and dispose of. After the first 100 days, more than 185 tons of trash were removed.
The idea behind this program came in part from an individual living on the streets who said, “If we had a place to put our trash, we’d clean up after ourselves.” Brian Trotier, volunteer extraordinaire, helped implement the program.
