The Lucky Duck Foundation believes no one should live on the streets. That’s why we support a variety of shelter and housing opportunities for homeless youth to permanently end their homelessness.
While the mission of the Lucky Duck Foundation is to prevent and alleviate the suffering of homelessness, ultimately every dollar we raise and invest is designed to give hope. Immediately. And permanently. Hope for a brighter, safer, and more fulfilling future.
Reducing youth homelessness is one of our core priorities
for 2025. Please join us.
Approximately 50% of the chronically homeless population suffered from homelessness as a youth. We must catch homeless youth “while the cement is still wet.” Help us change the trajectory of young lives and end homelessness for youth once and for all by donating today.

The Lucky Duck Foundation provides access to technology, behavioral and mental health services in schools, access to training and educational opportunities, and more, to help youth pursue their education.
More homeless individuals cite employment as a key factor in ending their homelessness than they do affordable housing. Access to employment for youth is critical and why the Lucky Duck Foundation supports a variety of employment opportunities.

As part of our emphasis on alleviating youth homelessness, we helped the Youth Assistance Coalition acquire a new safe house for young people and families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and don’t have anywhere else to go. The new safe house provides an additional five emergency shelter beds, all for less than the cost of one government-subsidized emergency shelter or hotel room.
Jasmine is breaking the cycle of homelessness and paving a new path – not just for herself, but for her son and for so many others who look up to her. The Youth Assistance Coalition has been supporting Jasmine since she was very young. The road hasn’t always been easy – there were tough choices and hard seasons – but through it all, she kept showing up, kept fighting, and never stopped believing in something better. Over the past year, Jasmine has been giving back – completing internship and volunteer hours at the Youth Assistance Coalition drop-in center, mentoring other youth, and raising her son with strength and love. And now, she’s a college graduate. Jasmine just earned her Associate Degree in Social Work from San Diego City College and she’s not stopping there. She’s deeply involved in youth advocacy and system change efforts, working with organizations like: Just in Time for Foster Youth, FosterClub (including their National Collaborative with Youth Villages & APHSA), Youth Law Center, and Promises2Kids (Women’s Leadership & Advocates for Change groups).
Derek has been in foster care since he was 6 due to his mother’s incarceration and his father’s substance abuse. He experienced housing instability and even lived in his aunt’s car before being connected with Urban Street Angels (USA). He’s now enrolled in their housing program and is working full-time at Timmy’s Place. Derek is highly motivated and passionate about joining the Navy, and he’s actively working with a recruiter to join in 2024.
Hannah had been couch surfing since she was 13, relying on her friends to provide a safe place. At 18, she was alone, unable to stay with friends due to COVID. The Youth Assistance Coalition -quickly placed her with Urban Street Angels, where she continued her college education and began working on her mental health. She is now a Junior at San Diego State University and still receives support from YAC for her daily living expenses.
Jasmine and her brother were living in an abusive houshold with relatives. Jasmine believed she could better protect her brother by leaving the family home. She eventually came to Urban Street Angels for support. Both Jasmine and her brother are thriving under the care and guidance of USA.
Helen grew up in an abusive household, and fled the day sheturned 18. She is now living at USA. She’s determined to improve her situation and plans to earn her AA before attending a 4-year college to obtain a bachelor’s degree in technology.
