Feel Good Stories for the Season of Giving

A Celebration of the Good Happening in Our Community

This season of giving, it is even more important to recognize people who are making a positive impact for homeless San Diegans. Today, we’re sharing a few stories that made us pause and reflect on how efforts – big and small – can have a life-altering effect. Plus, we’re one week away from Giving Tuesday! Read to the end to see how you can support youth and families this giving season.
Remember the Ocean Beach helpers who were caught on camera keeping Ocean Beach clean? A local dentist stepped in and provided one of the helpers with an all-new smile.
HYLETE, a San Diego-based apparel company, generously donated thousands of clothing items to be distributed to partner organizations of the Food and Water initiative.
Season of Giving at the Food and Water Initiative
Southern California Honda Dealers sent its Random Acts of Helpfulness team to volunteer with our Food and Water Initiative, packing and loading hundreds of meals.
The San Diego Rescue Mission launched Walk With Me, a program where volunteers can befriend an individual experiencing homelessness to hear their story, build trust, and support their efforts to end their homelessness.
Our final story is from Home Start, our Giving Tuesday partners. Over the past eight months, they have focused their efforts assisting youth and families hit by COVID-19. They are providing help with rent and utilities, groceries, diapers, and other assistance. We are matching all donations up to $25,000 through Giving Tuesday (12/1) to support their work.
These are just a few of the groups making a difference throughout San Diego county. Tag us in your favorite feel-good story on social. We’d love to know what inspires you! Together we can do more to alleviate the suffering of homelessness.
